Web Sight News
In this issue of Web Sight News from
Helen Schiller @ w3sights.com you can do some
sightseeing at the newly redesigned Wrightales, consider using Google Checkout to help increase online sales
and process them for free (until the end of 2007), and find out more about HTML email campaigns at w3sights.com.
Featured Sight: Wrightales
Wrightales are a series of original, hand bound fairy tales for intelligent grownups (who have never quite grown up)
by writer and bookbinder Lisa Wright.
Each Wrightale is hand bound by the author in an elegant, personal edition that fits in your hand like
a secret. Approximately 41/2" x 6", the books are printed on gold parchment paper, bound in a hard-cover
cloth binding with a satin bookmark and accented with sumptuous handmade endpapers.
Fairy tales are, in many ways, more relevant today when we are bombarded by distractions than in earlier
times. They strip away all the modern trappings, baring the soul of the story.
The fairy tales of Lisa Wright are rich in imagery and humor, illuminating aspects of life that were
not relevant to most people when traditional fairy tales were first told--the search for happiness, recognizing
that you have a choice in life, choosing a path, discovering your strengths, overcoming inherited burdens.
Visit wrightales.com to
begin reading a Wrightale, to order a hand bound copy - for yourself or as a gift, to find out about bookbinding, and for an idiosyncratic collection of views, reviews, and likely links.
Google Checkout for Online Sellers (and Shoppers)
Last summer Google rolled out Google Checkout, an online payment processing system designed to
improve the online purchasing process for both sellers and buyers.
Google Checkout can be integrated into a Web sight (by w3sights) enabling customers to buy products and
services quickly and securely and used to charge credit cards, process orders and
receive payment in a bank account. Because online shoppers often start with a Google search, Google Checkout
works with AdWords, the advertisements on Google search results pages. Merchants who are advertising with
Adwords and also offering Google Checkout as an option on their sight are highlighted by a shopping cart when
their ads are displayed. Seeing the shopping cart and that Google Checkout can be used for purchases at a Web sight is an added convenience for shoppers because credit card
and billing information is typed into, once and only once, and stored in Google Checkout;
thereafter purchases can be made with practically one click from any Web sight featuring Google Checkout,
thus avoiding lengthy and multiple checkout processes.
Additionally, in November, Google announced free transaction processing for all merchants using Google Checkout until the end of 2007.
Beginning January 1, 2008, Google Adwords advertisers will be able to earn free transaction processing through Google Checkout.
w3sights
recently launched it's first sight using Google Checkout, wrightales.com, the featured sight this month. Visit
wrightales.com to see an example of using Google Checkout as an online merchant and
contact w3sights for additional information and help with Google Checkout.
HTML emails at w3sights.com
w3sights is now offering a facility for sending HTML emails which allows you to maintain an email list,
update and send out HTML emails using templates I set up, and view reports
showing how many people opened the email and what links were clicked on. Featured here are two
examples of HTML emails, one highlighting news and the other announcing a workshop. Clicking on either example will
allow you to view the email, full size and online.
HTML emails can be used to send newsletters, special event announcements, or sales flyers to your customers and clients.
Sending an email such as one of these examples is one of the most effective marketing tools available
to businesses and organizations of all types and sizes. And it's affordable! Compared to sending out
postcards or flyers, HTML emails are much less expensive, with savings in production, materials
and postage.
At w3sights, setting up an account, mailing list, and email template can cost as little as $40, depending
on the extent of work required. Then, each HTML email sent out costs $5.00, plus 5 cents per recipient. For example,
to send an email to 100 recipients costs $10.00, the $5.00 base fee + $5.00 recipient fee; to 900
recipients costs $50.00, the $5.00 base fee + $45.00 recipient fee. Find out more about email marketing in next month's issue of
Web Sight News or by contacting w3sights!
